Randalls, Fiesta, and HEB Recognized as Partners for Democracy

Travis County Clerk Recognizes Grocery Retailers with Community Partnership Award

Grocery store polling locations critical for voter access

Randalls, Fiesta, and HEB representatives receiving awards

Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir recognizes three grocery retailers Randalls, Fiesta and H-E-B for the generous use of their stores for Early Voting and Election Day polling sites at Travis County Commissioner’s Court on March 5. “These companies demonstrate their dedication to democracy by donating their facilities, resources and time to host polling places. These convenient locations give more voters the opportunity to cast a ballot” DeBeauvoir said.

DeBeauvoir is presenting a representative from each company with an etched crystal award that honors them as a Travis County Elections Community Partner. Early voting polling sites have been located in local grocery stores for seven years and last November became Election Day vote centers. Voters have responded favorably to these locations measured by the impressive numbers of votes cast in these locations.

Travis County Judge Sam Biscoe will read a proclamation from the Commissioner’s court recognizing the importance of public and private partnerships to the democratic voting process and commending the three grocery retailers for their willingness to provide convenient and accessible polling places throughout Travis County.
